Jamel’s Story

Jamel Delano Brooks was the beloved son of Japheth and Donna Brooks, born on December 2, 1993, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. From an early age, Jamel was known for his curiosity, creativity, and passion for learning. He began his education at Hemmingay Prep School in Jamaica before relocating with his family to Florida in 2002.

After migrating to the United States, Jamel attended Atlantic West Elementary School, William Dandy Middle School, Blanche Ely High School, and Coconut Creek High School. His passion for business and leadership led him to pursue accounting studies at Broward College before joining his father in the family’s home healthcare business, where he later became part owner.

Jamel possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a deep understanding of business. His professional journey also included working as a sales representative with Massey Services while actively pursuing interests in stock trading and financial growth.

Beyond business, Jamel valued healthy living, physical fitness, and encouraging others to live balanced and productive lives. What truly set Jamel apart, however, was his heart for people — especially young people. He was deeply involved in his church and dedicated countless hours to mentoring youth and serving underserved communities. He believed strongly in the power of education, discipline, mentorship, and faith to transform lives. Jamel dreamed of establishing a nonprofit organization that would support disadvantaged children and communities both locally and internationally. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly to inspire young people to pursue education, work hard, and believe in their potential.

He was a student, a Deacon, a mentor, a businessman, a role model, and an inspiration to all who knew him. Jamel lived his life with class, dignity, compassion, and purpose. His impact on the lives of others continues to be felt, and his legacy of service and empowerment will not be forgotten.

Today, his vision lives on through the Jamel Delano Brooks Foundation. The foundation was established to continue Jamel’s lifelong dream of empowering youth and strengthening communities through education, mentorship, outreach, training, and charitable support — helping individuals from diverse backgrounds become the very best they can be and live successful, purpose-driven lives.
